What do I wear?
Whatever your heart desires! These particular backdrops photograph beautifully with soft neutrals (creams, beiges, warm whites) and organic greens, which feel timeless and flattering on camera. If you’re using these images for your business, it’s also a great idea to consider your brand colors and overall aesthetic when choosing an outfit.
Think simple, intentional, and comfortable — the goal is to feel like yourself, just a little more polished.
To keep the focus on you (and not your outfit), I recommend avoiding:
Busy patterns or loud prints
Logos, graphics, or large text
Neon or super-bright colors
These can be distracting on camera and don’t always translate as well in photos.
How does styling work?
If you’ve chosen to add on styling, Emily will take great care of you, so all you have to do is show up with a clean face, and clean/day old hair (unless you only booked makeup OR hair, then of course you’ll want to take care of whichever one you didn’t book)! She’ll get with you to give you any more specific directions.
Scheduling may shift slightly due to the styling schedule as well. We’ll communicate any changes!
Where are these sessions taking place?
Sessions (and styling, if booked) will occur in the Kelley Photo Studio in Tonganoxie, KS. The address will be emailed to you in your confirmation message. When you arrive, please come in the French doors that face the road.
What’s the turnaround time on images?
Headshots will be edited and sent to you within 3 weeks. If you need them sooner, please communicate that to Kelley and a rush may be possible.
All final images are thoughtfully edited to look polished, natural, and true to you.
This includes:
Color and exposure adjustments
Light skin smoothing and tone balancing
Temporary blemish cleanup
I keep retouching subtle and realistic — the goal is for you to look like yourself on your very best day, not overly filtered or airbrushed.
If you’re opting for professional hair and makeup, that does a lot of the heavy lifting and helps keep retouching minimal while still delivering beautifully finished images.
Who can be in the sessions?
These are open to all genders and ages (besides babies who can’t yet sit up)! Each person needs their own session, but two people may be included in back to back sessions.
